Navigating Your Kitchen During the Holidays while Entertaining

There are many ways to renovate a kitchen, and the possibilities are what make every kitchen project exciting for me as a designer. When working on a client’s kitchen renovation, we consider their lifestyle and current kitchen habits. If they are usually on the go, we make sure to prioritize the island area for those swift breakfast meals while responding to early morning texts. If it’s a project for a family, we make sure to focus on spacing and organization. Regardless of the needs, we know that having company over is a special and memorable occasion, so we make sure the most utilized spaces, like the kitchen, are elevated yet flexible! Here is our guide to help you navigate your kitchen during the holidays while entertaining with confidence and ease.

1.     Custom Cabinetry

The biggest attention grabber in a kitchen is the cabinetry because it takes up much of the wall space. This is a significant element to utilize if you are trying to achieve a specific look and it can serve as the perfect backdrop to set the mood for this area. The benefits of working with an interior designer is receiving help with your tailored design selections and the exclusive access you’ll have to custom pieces that will become the center of conversations while guests are over. Crisp white cabinets can help create the infamous all-white kitchen look that can leave your space feeling spacious and pristine. Though a small detail, cabinet knobs can completely change the overall appearance of a cabinet and your space, so pay attention to this piece when you want to elevate the overall design’s warmth or vibrance. From mullions that contain glass to display your favorite items to flat panels that make a simple and stylish finish, there are a variety of cabinet styles to choose from to both contain or display your kitchen items in a beautiful way.

2.     Kitchen Backsplash

Another wall space that can serve as a marvelous design canvas is the backsplash area. Tile work can bring detail, simplicity, or even a touch of boldness to the kitchen. Found where all the food preparation and cleaning happen, the backsplash area is not one to be taken for granted. There are also a variety of tile options that create a different appeal depending on your style. Glossy finishes can emit a brighter effect in the room with the reflection of light, while color or patterned tiles can serve as accents to bring a moody aesthetic to the kitchen. If you’re tired of all-white simple tiles, try experimenting with different options and see how this impactful application can transform your interiors.

3.     Island Area

Island spaces are one of my favorite parts of a kitchen area, and they can really add some personality. With the combination of color and countertop design, this highly utilized space can be an area for serving dishes, refreshments, or provide seating with the right stools that complement the overall style. The island countertop is also the perfect place to display festive décor during the holiday season. This central area should also be cohesive and keep the nearby breakfast or dining tables in mind when it comes to styling to ensure everything ties together seamlessly.

4.     All the Right Décor, Tablescapes, and Florals

When it comes to your kitchen space, there is no need to hold back on the decor! It’s the additional details that make it more personal and welcoming. Permanent botanicals or fresh florals are easy go-to’s when looking for ways to revamp a space. Other centerpieces are also widely used, while holiday décor or symbolic ornaments can also be sprinkled throughout to help celebrate the season. For a luxurious touch, adding a tablescape to the island area or breakfast table can make your kitchen look even more stunning.
