How to Select the Right Bedding

With cooler weather getting stronger by the day, it’s time to start getting ready for the autumn months in terms of your wardrobe and your interiors. Staying warm and comfortable is key, and you might be wondering how to elevate your bedroom’s coziness without putting a dent in the overall design. We’re here to guide you on three major areas to keep in mind when selecting the right bedding.

1.     A Quality Comforter is Key

Bedding that is functional and stylish includes a quality comforter. A comforter is the essential piece you view from the outside that holds everything together. That first impression makes all the difference in helping you decide on the right choice. Do you want something vibrant and textured? Or maybe something silky and sophisticated? While making these decisions, the number one thing to consider is quality bedding and bedsheets. A standard system for measuring quality includes fabric material and thread count. When it comes to thread count, a good rule of thumb to remember is that generally, the higher the thread count number, the softer and more quality the material will hold. Another thing to consider is the weight of the fabric. For those colder months, it’s best to have a heavy or furrier comforter to give you the most warmth and vice versa for spring and summer.

2.     Layering Levels of Luxury

The critical area to focus on when it comes to styling the bed is to add layers. When making the bed, its best to fold the inner sheets over the cover and tuck everything underneath the bed as shown above. You can also add decorative pillows that complement the room and a similar throw blanket neatly draped nearby. A substitute for a comforter can be a duvet. A duvet is the blanket inside, while the duvet cover is the outward shell and can easily be replaced when you want to change the style. Another idea to consider is a bedroom bench which can be a functional way of adding length and splendor to your bedroom retreat. Building on complementary elements like this helps elevate the illusion of depth and dimension throughout the space.

3.     Conscious Colors

Bedding can seamlessly play into the bedroom's overall design, which is why you should be conscious of color and style. One technique is to use the bedding as an accent color to enhance the rest of the colors in the room. Another way to elevate the bedding design is utilizing surrounding items like accent pillows, accent throw pillows, or even the headboard! If you would rather opt for a duvet than a comforter, you can have more flexibility with layering and switching out the duvet cover. In the image shown above, we took full advantage of using the headboard to make a pop of color and paired it with a corresponding patterned pillow. We brought back some balance to this space by selecting a light neutral color for the bedding that paired beautifully with the geometric wallpaper and timeless nightstand.

Hopefully, these tips inspire you with ways to turn your bedroom into a luxurious getaway!
